NATTEN is a Stockholm-based quartet moving through dark soundscapes. The music has been labeled psychonaut disco and conveys the rough, uncompromising sound of inner exploration. The band was formed in 2010 and has since been on a continual journey finding new ways of expressing something hidden in the depths of the creative psyche.
Howling horns, pounding beats, mesmerizing guitars, dreamy synthesizers, deep poetry and repetitive, almost kraut-like bass, provide the building blocks of a truly unique musical output.
Started as an experimental jazz quartet, with accordion, trumpet, bass, and drums. Still moving in the dark landscapes, NATTEN have evolved since then but still with their very distinctive sound, the sound of the night, wich natten translates to in Swedish. Playing a lot in Eastern Europe, in places like Poland, Germany, Latvia, Lithuania, and the Czech Republic. The band has been part of the Stockholm alternative scene since 2011; from the more acoustic jazz setting, NATTEN turned more electronic, with synthesizers and hard-driven beats; they became part of the stockholm underground rave scene. Playing memorable sets in the summer woods under sunrise skies and in sweaty suburban warehouses , their sound and appearances have inspired collaborations with artists like Alice Boman and Ingenting.
Meeting the producer and legendary rave maker Ossian Reynolds has in recent years evolved in a collaboration on his label Nadaville, evolving the music to a more raw sound, including screaming guitars. The latest release wich we proudly present: Floating like a Kite in the Tempelhof air, tells a love story in two parts. Set against the vastness of Tempelhof field in Berlin, the story moves slowly and rapidly towards space and chaos, evolving from harmony and order into beautiful disorder.
